About Giving

The Bible teaches Christians to:

Give – Willingly
For I can testify that they gave not only what they could afford but far more. And they did it of their own free will. They begged us again and again for the gracious privilege of sharing in the gift for the Christians in Jerusalem. – 2 Corinthians 8:3-4

Give – Sacrificially
He called his disciples to him and said, "I assure you, this poor widow has given more than all the others have given. For they gave a tiny part of their surplus, but she, poor as she is, has given everything she has." – Mark 12:43-44

Give -- Purposefully
Meanwhile, Zacchaeus stood there and said to the Lord, "I will give half my wealth to the poor, Lord, and if I have overcharged people on their taxes, I will give them back four times as much!" – Luke 19:8

Give – Increasingly
Since you excel in so many ways – you have so much faith, such gifted speakers, such knowledge, such enthusiasm, and such love for us – now I want you to excel also in this gracious ministry of giving. – 2 Corinthians 8:7

Give – Liberally
Now I want to tell you, dear brothers and sisters, what God in his kindness has done for the churches in Macedonia. Though they have been going through much trouble and hard times, their wonderful joy and deep poverty have overflowed in rich generosity. – 2 Corinthians 8:1-2

Give – Faithfully
Now, a person who is put in charge as a manager must be faithful. On every Lord's Day, each of you should put aside some amount of money in relation to what you have earned and save it for this offering… – 1 Corinthians 4:2 & 16:2a

Give – Compassionately
But if anyone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need and refuses to help – how can God's love be in that person? – 1 John 3:17

Give – Gladly
You must each make up your own mind as to how much you should give. Don't give reluctantly or in response to pressure. For God loves the person who gives cheerfully. – 2 Corinthians 9:7
