God offers long term solutions for short term struggles.

The once for all solution for in the moment...
I love how the Bible covers all the issues of life. We might not like what it says, or what it says might jar us to the bone, but it covers things.
For example...
"To the unmarried and the widows I say that it is good for them to remain single as I am. But if they cannot exercise self-control, they should marry. For it is better to marry than to burn with passion." (1 Corinthians 7:8-9 ESV)
It's better to get married than to "burn" (if you don't know what that means, either grab a Strong's or inbox me).
There's a nuance here that someone in the struggle not to "burn" will appreciate (in this case, "appreciate" does not necessarily equal "easy to hear"). In the Greek, when these verses talk about the "burn" part, it uses the verb tense to talk about burning in the moment. However, when the verse says "better to marry" it is in the verb tense that means "once and for all".
In other words, there is no provision for a short term fix to a momentary struggle. The believer who is not given the blessing of self-control to match the desire to stay single should not "burn" but should "marry". Marry, that is, and stay married till death do us part, as the vows often say.
The Scriptures prove they understand the struggle, but they also reveal God's heart about the solution.
Interesting stuff to chew on, and, the more I read the Bible, the more I find solutions for the struggle...whatever struggle it might be.
