In the wicked shadow...

In the wicked shadow...

Light has no shadow. The only time the flame from fire casts a shadow is when the light source behind the fire is greater than the light from the flame.

There is no light greater than the Light that is Christ. The Apostle John said that is the very thing he and the early disciples understood from Jesus: "This is the message we heard from Jesus and now declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all." (1 John 1:5 NLT)

The shadow comes when something stands between the light and something else material.

Would that my people would understand the work of the enemy in this regard! When our hearts behold the Light of God, and we count Him as most beautiful, necessary and sufficient, the enemy, then, would stand in the light and speak wickedness in the shadows.

The enemy seeks to kill, steal and destroy. That's his business. He roams around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. He wants to destroy our confidence in Christ as sufficient means for our peace with God. He wants to demean every truth of God.

So, then, the enemy stands between us and the Light, and speaks wickedness in the shadow. He seeks to dim our view, not of the material, but of the Light. This, beloved friends, is why we need to "...take every thought captive to obey Christ" (see 2 Corinthians 10:5).

Understand, you who have ears to hear, here is why it is so vitally important that we be people of the word! Brother John says, "I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life." (1 John 5:13 ESV) And, again, he says of the entire Gospel of John, "...these are written so that you may continue to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing in him you will have life by the power of his name." (John 20:31 NLT)

I'm no peddler of God's word. I would not be as one such as Brother Peter warned us of: "They will exploit you in their greed with deceptive words. Their condemnation, pronounced long ago, is not idle, and their destruction does not sleep." (2 Peter 2:3 HCSB) It is my effort and blessed expectation to exhort my beloved brothers and sisters to firm foundations; I would that you be anchored in Christ, and that you be not shaken.

Be people of the word, both the written word and the Living Word! Be rock ribbed, solid foundation people! Do not fall for the lure of lies spoken in shadows.

Understand the work of the enemy concerning your faith. Remain steadfast. Hold fast to your confession. Be not moved.

Bless you, each and everyone, as you gaze upon the Light while being wary of what is spoken in the shadows.
