All of us know that physical feeling of not
feeling well, but not knowing exactly what's wrong with us. That makes feeling
poorly even worse, because we don't know what to treat with what!
Spiritually speaking, this is true, too. It's
the number one reason Satan wants to keep people out of God's word. There, God
identifies the sickness -- both in general (sin) and specifically (my / your
sin) -- AND God tells us the ONLY help for what ails us.
Romans 2:15 says, "They demonstrate that
God's law is written in their hearts, for their own conscience and thoughts
either accuse them or tell them they are doing right." (NLT) Many times,
we don't know exactly what's wrong with us, but we know "something"
is wrong. The enemy wants us to shrug it off. The enemy wants us to attempt to
justify it. The enemy want us to become numb.
God wants our conscience to push us to Him for
a solution. Like physical sickness drives us to a physician, God desires that
internal woe drives us to Him.
One of the worst things to do is to busy
ourselves with every unhelpful activity on the face of the planet instead of
turning to God. Open His word. Begin to see what He calls sin (sickness), and
begin to agree with Him what you are sick. Agree with Him that it is incurable.
Agree with Him about His method of healing. Agree with Him about Jesus and
begin to come from under the sickness of conscience!
